The Process Begins
That’s right folks! I am publishing my first children’s book. I will be sharing my process with you as I get ready to make my children’s book dream a reality.
I also wanted to make this process of publishing my first children’s book as fun as possible too.
Just like any other indie author waiting to publish their children’s book, the process itself can be a little bit overwhelming as well.
However, I am determined to make my children’s book a reality. The main reason behind my determination is my kids.
I write with a purpose to make sure that they understand that reading is fun. My kids are my biggest fans and inspiration.
Therefore, when they asked me if I could create a children’s picture book, how could I say no.
That was all the motivation I needed to make this project a priority.
I didn’t have the slightest clue where to begin or start. I knew that I could not let them down.
However, I knew that CONTENT IS KING. I was ready for the challenge to make this project fun too.
I just knew that I had to figure out what I was going to be writing about for my children to enjoy this picture book.
Publishing Children’s Book Tips
Bethany Atazadeh ‘s Video Regarding Writing Children’s Books
Right out the box, I knew that I would be writing a children’s bedtime story which brings me to my first helpful tips of the day.
Therefore, this video is only being used for informational purposes only.
By the way, the video listed above is a outdated post by Bethany Atazadeh, Author and Youtuber.
However, she does list some valid points that has assisted me with my children’s book writing too.
Know Your Audience
Knowing your audience whom you will be writing for is the first big step to writing a successful children’s book.
Your book can not be for all age groups of children. It will be impossible to appeal or appeased all the masses at the same time.
Besides children of all different ages do not have the same attention span or spectrum to gravitate towards your picture book.
Defining your audience is very vital in writing a successful children’s book. My children’s book “BENZO” is definitely for age groups of 4 – 8 year olds.
Creating this book for this age range or spectrum is perfect for me.
It is my comfort level for creating the perfect bedtime story theme which kids can relate to and enjoy at the same time.
Choosing a Parallel Theme
My children’s book has a relatable theme that centers on amusement parks and carnival prizes. My children and I always enjoyed going to amusement parks.
Spending quality time together while winning carnival prizes made being a DAD awesome!
When kids can visually relate to your children’s book, they will want to read more and more.
The reason for this is that they can see themselves in your storylines or character plots.
Trust me when I tell you this because my children can remember every memorable moment at these amusement parks.
They are extremely excited that I am publishing my first children’s book, “BENZO” which is in production and ME too.
What is Your Child’s Dream World Like?
Benzo adventure takes place at an amusement park filled with excitement and fun.
This Dr. Who of time travel not only likes to eat cheese, but dreams big while having fun too.
This is only a snippet of my creative process. Please do not forget to leave comments and feedback.
